Make your own mind up, the Americans don't get it.
Still on the Dalton Highway, this place is not for the faint hearted, especialy if your on a motorbike.

Arriving in Prudhoe Bay an oil workers town, no alchohol allowed so we'll have to sneak some into our room.
Land of the midnight sun, still light but no sun
The famous Deadhorse sign.
The famous Atigun pass think ice road truckers, only its not as big in real life, would'nt like to drive up it in the snow.
At the top of the Atigun, Mark, Drew and myself.

Fairbanks to Coldfoot
Sorry I haven't posted for a few days but we have no internet access or mobile phone signal, this is the start of the Dalton highway that leads to Prudhoe Bay, 500 miles of mostly gravel, a bit slippy when its wet, which it is most of the time.
The bikes are looking a bit muddy, they won't get a clean now till we reach Canada, no point
Great place you can see I'm excited.
Crossing the Artic circle.
The hotel at Coldfoot, very basic, they are portacabins bolted together, clean and warm though, and it has a laundry so we can wash our clothes at last.
A visit to Wiseman a old gold mining town, this guy is an former gold prospecter, we chatted for a while and he told us all about his life digging for gold
A Willys jeep, it actually runs and gets used on a daily basis circa 1943.
This is were the guy lives, fantastic place.

Day at the gun club then a barby with the local biker gang
A day out at the local gun club. These guys had some serious weapons. This is the 2011 transamerican group.
Would you mess with this man, me neither!
Just one of the many guns to fire. The Alaskan Machine Gun Club, these guy were brilliant, they were really enthusiastic about us firing there guns.
It was definately a case of who had the biggest gun. This guy won, he'd never fired it before today, they aimed it at a 45 gallon drum filled with water, certainly made a mess.
The marks on my neck were where a hot cartridge dropped down my collar, I was jumping around trying to get it out, holding a loaded M16 rifle, should of seen the instuctor panic Ha Ha.

A long day out to Whittier Alaska
Trying a new chrome helmet
Just before our first ride out to a fishing town called Whittier, it has the second longest tunnel in the USA. 2.5 miles, Its a one way tunnel which is shared with trains and cars alike. we simply rode between the tracks. I guess the USA dosen't do tunnels.
Nice sign, three people died today on this road. Coming back from Whittier a car overtook on a blind bend an hit a people carrier killing three and injuring another twelve people, we were stuck in the road block for 7 hours.
A gift shop in Whittier.
We got talking to a biker in the road block and he told us of this famous restaurant in the area, called Double Muskies, you can't booked so we arrived early. The doors opened at 5pm by 5.30 the place was full. The food and service was fantastic.

Segway tour of down town Anchorage
A Segway tour of down town Anchorage with the usual suspects, plus Liz. Wierd things lean forward to go forward and back to go back, with a twist grip to turn, Alan our tour guide gave us a great tour of Anchorage, including the start area of the Iditarod, the famous Alaskan dog race.
At last we have the bikes, this is them parked at the rear of the hotel, its rained here for the last few days but we are going out on them today. Its wierd seeing my BM parked in a street in the USA.
